Sadushi De Silva

Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia

Sadushi De Silva is a first generation college student from Los Angeles majoring in Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley. Her passion lies in advocating with system-impacted marginalized communities. Her previous experience includes asylum defense work in the Bay Area and family defense advocacy in New York City. Pursuing an influential career in public defense is among her many long-term ambitions. The hands-on experience she has gained taught her the importance of community-based, client centered advocacy. She hopes to advance holistic, multidisciplinary, non-traditional public defense practices in major offices in the United States. In Washington, she plans to continue building her knowledge and skills in the field of public interest law.
