John Garcia is the current Archive Director of Resource Center for Minority Data (RCMD) at ICPSR and Visiting Researcher at the Center for Political Studies at the University of Michigan. Dr. Garcia holds a Professorship in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. He received his Ph.D. in Government from Florida State University in 1971. He was awarded a NIMH Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Center for Urban Affairs at Northwestern University before accepting a position at the University of Arizona. He has been at the University of Arizona since 1972. His current term as Archive Director will work to build upon the successful accomplishments of this relatively new unit. His primary areas of research and teaching are minority group politics, political behavior, political mobilization, urban politics, social survey research, and public policy.
