Charlie Lea is a student at the University of California Berkeley majoring in Political Science and minoring in Public Policy. He hopes to work on campaigns, in public officials’ offices, and in private firms that shape public policy. Last summer, he worked as a field manager for the Fund for the Public Interest, working to pass legislation that would reduce single-use plastic use in Virginia, sparked a passion in me for gaging and shifting public perception to promote the public’s best interests. At Berkeley charlie Interns for the California Public Interest group’s New Voters Project as their Grass tops Advocacy Coordinator. He is responsible for scheduling meetings with senators and congressmen; sending press releases advisories to the media; and hosting local outreach events. Through the UCDC program Charlie will be working at Spiros Consulting as their opposition research intern.
